Does love weaken or empower?

Today I read a post on social media proclaiming that true, deep and lasting love was something that weakens you.  The person made comments about not being able to breath when their partner was gone. They proclaim to feel weak and lesser when that person is not around.

Umm… Can we not teach our children this mindset? Can we not?
Love is strength. Love is power. Love makes you feel bolder, more confident, surer. Love does not break you down.
Love, in all of its forms, is empowering.
The love of our friends helps us to decide where we fit in this world.
The love of our families provides us a safe place from the world that we live in.
Romantic love, in it’s purest form, combines all of these feelings, and more.
Scripture tells us that love is patient, kind, not envious, not boastful, not proud, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily angered and keeps no record of wrongs.
Love rejoices in the truth.
All of these seem to be motivational to me, none of them are defeatist.
We need to teach our kids that love makes us better.
I feel emboldened to step out of my comfort zone, to be brave when needed, to make my voice heard. I feel emboldened because of love. Because I know my family, my friends, my fiancé are all behind me.
When I walk out of my door, I feel their love with me. When I am at work, when I am in conversation, in all that I do, I am stronger.

Love does not weaken us.
If you find yourself in a situation where you feel that the “love” you are experiencing leaves you weaker, please allow yourself to evaluate that situation clearly.
